Native

Learn from and serve among our Native American neighbors.

Late in his life, our city's namesake, or at least the version of his name we now know as "Seattle," came to identify as a Christian. Compelled by the gospel of Jesus Christ, he was nonetheless grieved by the way his Christian brothers and sisters treated the land and Native peoples.

Every year on Thanksgiving Day, we all have a chance to more deeply understand our country's history and the effect it has on us all, and in particular, the Native American in and/or among us. As together we seek to learn from and to serve among our Native American neighbors: What can we discover about the Lord who created the earth and made it good? What can we learn about our common need for Jesus to come and interrupt human history and save us from ourselves? What can we learn about hope and how can we experience and extend God's grace, presence, and hospitality? We humbly suggest the following as starting points and invite ongoing conversation.

A panel discussion with the filmmakers and tribal members will follow the screening.
